Thanks for signing up for the Impoundment Trailer Ride at Santee Coastal Reserve on March 12th from 10am to 12pm. Please meet at the office at Santee Coastal Reserve in McClellanville a little before 10am. Traffic can be terrible in Mt Pleasant so plan enough driving time. We will do a brief tour of the office (the historic Santee Gun Club lodge). There are restrooms in the lodge. Then you will get on a trailer with bench seats, pulled by a truck. We will tour the wetlands and hopefully see a diversity of waterbirds. The property is notorious for biting insects so please wear long clothing and bring bug spray. Also bring snacks, water, raincoat and binoculars if you have them.

 

To get to the office, go down South Santee Road, McClellanville. Turn onto Santee Gun Club Road (at the large SCDNR Santee Coastal Reserve sign marking the entrance). Go down the dirt road about 2.6 miles. You will come to the campground and a kiosk. Keep going straight. The office is about ¼ mile more on the left.
